Golf Solitaire uses a 52-card deck. Deal seven columns of five face-up cards. Place the rest as a stock and flip one card to start a waste pile. Move only cards that sit one rank above or below the top card of the waste. Suits do not matter. Many versions count Aces as low, and some allow a wrap between King and Ace. The round ends in two cases: you clear every column, or the stock runs out.
The aim is to remove every card from the columns. Many rule sets score one point for each card left at the end. A lower total means a better result. Some versions also grant bonus points for long consecutive moves on the waste. Most versions allow no redeal. Some variants grant one redeal of the stock.
Scan the columns before the first move and spot blocking ranks in piles. Target buried low ranks early to open fresh paths. Favor moves toward flexible ranks. Example: a 7 links to 6 and 8. Keep runs going to avoid drawing from the stock. Keep a breaking move as a last resort. Watch Kings and Aces. They cap sequences under the no-wrap rule. Save a bridging card for key moments. Example: a 9 links to 8 and 10. Finish groups of the same rank close together to prevent dead ends.
