Return to Classic Run-and-Gun Action
Contra 25th Anniversary is a Flash remake created to celebrate the classic 8-bit Contra experience. It contains four levels and keeps the fast side-scrolling action that made the original game famous.
You control a soldier who runs through dangerous areas filled with armed enemies, defensive positions, and other threats. Your goal is to survive each stage while destroying anything blocking the route forward.
The anniversary version adds modern Flash-era features around the familiar action, including rankings, medals, extra options, and improved effects.
Run, Jump, and Fire
The standard controls use W, A, S, and D for movement.
Press J to fire and K to jump. The game also lets you redefine the controls through its options.
Movement is important because enemies can attack from several positions.
You may need to jump over danger while continuing to shoot. Staying still for too long makes it easier for enemy fire to reach you.
The quick pace rewards players who keep moving while watching what appears ahead.
Change Weapons During the Fight
Weapons are a major part of Contra 25th Anniversary.
You can obtain new weapons during play, and the Flash edition lets you change available weapons in real time through the weapon tab.
That gives you more control over how you approach different parts of a stage.
A weapon that works well against a group of normal soldiers may not feel as useful against a tougher target.
Earn Medals and Chase Higher Scores
The game includes a medal and ranking system.
Achievements reward tasks such as defeating the first enemy, destroying a cannon, finding a weapon, taking down a tank, completing levels, and reaching high score totals.
Difficulty also affects scoring. Playing on a harder setting can produce a higher score.
This gives experienced players another reason to return after finishing the stages once.
Contra 25th Anniversary stays focused on fast arcade action. Run through the battlefield, jump over danger, shoot enemy forces, collect weapons, switch equipment when needed, and work through all four levels.
The extra medals and high-score goals add replay value, but the heart of the game remains simple: keep moving, keep firing, and survive everything the stage throws at you.
