Info About Battle Cry
Battle Cry is a tabletop war game about the American Civil War. Richard Borg designed it and Avalon Hill published it. You command Union or Confederate forces on a hex grid. The box has plastic soldiers, cavalry, cannons, terrain tiles, and custom dice. Scenarios cover battles such as Bull Run, Shiloh, and Antietam. Each setup follows a scenario sheet that shows the map and starting units.
On your turn you play a command card and activate units in a section of the field. You move, fire, or charge. Artillery shells from a distance. Infantry trades volleys. Cavalry closes fast. Fights use dice with symbols that show hits and retreats. Flags on the dice push units back. When a unit loses all figures, the other side claims a victory token. Terrain blocks sight and slows movement. Most scenarios end when one side earns the set number of victory flags.
The game finishes in about an hour and suits players who want clear rules and steady tension. Smart timing and hand management drive success because your cards limit choices each turn. Dice create swings, yet position and support matter more over the long battle. The 150th Anniversary edition updates components and adds scenarios while keeping the same core system. The mix of clean rules and historic flavor gives the game steady replay value.
