Merge Matching Tiles and Build a Bigger Number

2048: A Number Puzzle is a number-merging game played on a four-by-four board. The goal is to combine matching tiles until one tile reaches 2048. Use the arrow keys on a computer or swipe on a touch screen to move every tile in the same direction. Two tiles with the same value merge when they meet. Two 2 tiles make 4, two 4 tiles make 8, and the pattern continues with larger numbers.

A new tile enters the board after a useful move. Space becomes limited as the game continues. The round ends when the board fills and no matching tiles can move together.

Keep the Largest Tile in One Corner

A useful plan is to choose one corner for the highest tile. Keep building numbers toward that point. This makes the board easier to organise and reduces the chance of trapping a large value between smaller pieces.

Try to arrange the strongest tiles in order along one row or column. A line containing 512, 256, 128, and 64 gives you a clear path for future merges. Moving in every direction without a plan can break that order.

Protect Empty Spaces

An empty square gives the tiles room to move. Avoid filling every space with unmatched numbers. Look at the full board before pressing a direction. One move may create a match but block two better combinations.

Small tiles also need attention. Several 2 and 4 tiles scattered across the board can create trouble. Merge them early when doing so does not disturb your largest-number chain.

Continue Beyond the Main Goal

Creating the 2048 tile completes the main challenge, but many versions let players continue and build even larger values. A strong score comes from planning several moves ahead and keeping the board tidy.

2048: A Number Puzzle uses basic addition, yet it offers a thoughtful challenge. Every swipe changes the entire board. Players need to match equal values, protect open spaces, and keep their biggest tile in a useful position.
